Use the form on this page to send a topic request, flag a correction, make a press inquiry, or apply to join the Expert Review Board. We respond within five business days. We cannot answer individualized legal or clinical questions; for those, please work with a licensed professional, and if you are in crisis, please use the resources on the Crisis Support page or call 988.

What the form is for

The form is the one intake for four kinds of message:

  • Topic requests. What would you like the site to cover, or cover more carefully?
  • Corrections. Something on a page looks wrong; here is what and why.
  • Press inquiries. A journalist, podcaster, or producer needs a source, a quote, or background.
  • Reviewer applications. A licensed clinician, attorney, or qualified researcher wants to join the Expert Review Board.

Pick the closest topic in the form and write what you need. If your message does not fit any of the four, send it anyway and we will route it.

What the form is not for

Two kinds of message belong somewhere else.

Individualized legal or clinical questions

We cannot tell you what to do in your specific case. The site is educational. It does not represent readers, diagnose individuals, or substitute for licensed help in your jurisdiction. If you have a real legal question, talk to a licensed attorney. If you have a real mental-health or family-system question, talk to a licensed clinician. The American Psychological Association maintains a Psychologist Locator that can help you find a licensed clinician.

If you write us with an individualized question, our honest reply is going to be a short note explaining the limit and pointing you to a licensed professional. We say this up front so you can decide whether to send the message at all.

Acute distress and child-safety concerns

If you are in crisis, please use these resources right now, not the form:

The form is checked during business hours and the response window is five business days, which is the wrong tool for a crisis.

Response-time commitment

We answer every message within five business days. If your message needs research (a careful look at a citation, a check against the primary sources), the first reply will say so and give a realistic timeline. If you are a journalist or a clinician with a deadline, say so in your note and we will prioritize the response.

The form

The form lives below this section. We collect the minimum information needed to answer you.

Field set

The form asks for:

  • Name. What we should call you in our reply. A first name is fine.
  • Email. Where we send the reply.
  • Topic. One of: Topic request, Correction, Press inquiry, Reviewer application, Other.
  • Message. What you want to tell us, in your own words.

We do not ask for a phone number, a street address, or any demographic information. We do not share what you send with anyone outside the editorial team unless you ask us to.

After you submit

You will see a confirmation page. We send no marketing email. If you also signed up for the newsletter, that is a separate, opt-in subscription, and you can unsubscribe at any time. The Privacy Policy describes how long we keep contact-form submissions and what your data rights are.

Better paths for specific requests

For a few request types, a dedicated path is faster than this form.

Reporting a correction

You can use the form with the “Correction” topic, or you can read the full Corrections Policy & Log first to see what we need in a correction note. The log shows every correction we have published, which can sometimes resolve a question before you write.

Applying as a reviewer

The Expert Review Board page describes who we recruit, what we ask reviewers to do, and how the application process works. Read that page first, then use the form with the “Reviewer application” topic.

Press and media inquiries

Use the form with the “Press inquiry” topic. Tell us your outlet, your deadline, and whether you need a source on the record, on background, or both. We try to reply within one business day for press requests with a same-week deadline.

Topic and content requests

Tell us what would be useful: a topic you would like covered, a page that should go deeper, a citation we should bring in. We log every topic request and review them when we plan editorial cycles. The Editorial Standards page describes how we decide what to publish.

A note on privacy

We hold the minimum information needed to answer your message. We do not use the contact form for marketing. We do not share submissions with outside parties unless you ask us to. The full Privacy Policy covers what we collect, why, and how long we keep it.
